To Study Simple and Multiple Correlation among Extroversion and Psychological Hardiness with Happiness in Students Regarding to Sexuality

Abstract

Introduction: As the importance and positive outcomes of happiness for the improvement of personal and social life of people is concerned, psychologists have tried to know happiness and its correlates. The aim of the present study was to study simple and multiple correlation among extroversion and hardiness with happiness in students of Shahed University. The research has been a descriptive correlational study. Method: Using ratio estimation sampling method, 294 Shahed university BA students (girls and boys) were selected. All participants completed the items of five-factor NEO Personality Inventory questionnaire, Young and Goulet hardiness, and Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. Results: Data analysis using Pearson correlation method, regression correlation and analysis of variance by 16th version of SPSS revealed significant positive correlation among extroversion and hardiness with happiness. It was also observed that considerable proportion of the variance in happiness was explained by extroversion and hardiness in the sample studied. Conclusion: Research findings showed that extroversion and hardiness could explain and predict good amount of happiness variance, while extroversion is more powerful than hardiness. Moreover extroversion and hardiness could explain happiness variance in men and women differently.
