The Comparison of Prospective and Retrospective Memory in Patients with Schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Normal Individuals

Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to comparison retrospective memory and prospective memory in patients with schizophrenia, OCD and normal individuals. Method: The present research was designed to investigate PM and RM in persons suffering from obsessive compulsive and schizophrenia disorders and comparing them with normal group. For this purpose 30 persons with schizophrenia, 30 persons with obsessive compulsive and 30 normal person selected. Results: Participants completed PM and RM questionnaire (Smith and colleagues)that normalized in Iranian population. Results of ANOVA and HSD indicate that group with schizophrenia disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder performed significantly poorer than normal group in PM and RM. Conclusion: Results shows that most patients with schizophrenia and OCD have problems in retrospective and prospective memory.
