Abstract

Introduction: Resilience is one's ability to cope with risky and stressful situations, but not everyone is equally resilient. Due to the stressful nature of the nursing profession, resilience is an essential quality of a nurse. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of Mizaj in predicting resilience with regard to the moderating role of gender.
Method: The research methodology was descriptive correlational. The study participants were included nurses from different wards of Imam Ali hospital in Kermanshah that by Using simple random sampling method and Cochran formula, 165 (104 womam and 61 man) nurses were considered. The data were collected using Standard Salmannejad Questionnaire (SMQ) and Conner-Davidson Resiliency Questionnaire (CD-RISC). Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the data.
Results: The findings of this study show that nurses 'warmth of Mizaj increases their resilience and its coldness reduces it, and nurses 'dryness of Mizaj decrease their resilience and its wetness of Mizaj causes a increases in resilience. The moderating role of gender in the relationship between resilience and Mizaj was confirmed. That is, the effect of Mizaj on the resilience of nurses varies between men and women.
Conclusion: Nurses΄Mizaj plays an important role in their resilience, and research findings confirm this relationship. It is recommended that nurses be evaluated for their Mizaj in order to attract and recruit nurses in the human resource management department of hospitals, and that nurses who are eligible for nursing stressful jobs be selected.
